A trip to the Metropolitan Museum and Barranco

Today is the fourth full day that I have been in Peru and today we took a trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Lima and later myself and two took a trip to the district of Barranco.

We weren't allowed to take pictures inside of the museum; however, I remember a lot of facts regarding the tour. The tour presented a history of the nation of Peru, starting from the very beginning with the formation of the land from the movement of tectonic plates and ending with a collage of videos and pictures representing modern-day Peru.

During a short interlude between the time I visited the museum and the time we went to Barranco, we made a short trip to the district of Rimac, which turned out to be quite a humbling experience for me. It was obviously a very destitute part of Lima and home to many people. Coming from the United States, I couldn't really imagine living in a place like that, although some of the architecture and the mountains were beautiful.

After leaving Rimac, two of the girls and I headed past Mira Flores and into Barranco where we found many restaurants and beautiful sights, one of them being the Pacific Ocean.

We took a taxi both to and from Barranco, which was fun. However, on the taxi ride back, the driver got lost and, due to a combination of being lost and experiencing a language barrier, it took us over an hour to get back to Jesús Maria.
