Yesterday we flew into Cusco around lunchtime. Immediately you could tell that there was something different about this city. You can see the distinct line between Spanish architecture vs Inca architecture.
The Spanish used mortar in their design while the Incas put large rocks together like a puzzle. You can read more about the architecture on these two websites. http://www.discover-peru.org/inca-architecture/

Flying over the Andes was pretty awesome. We got to see snow capped peaks of mountains that were greater than 15000 feet.
The thing about Cusco is that it is at an elevation of 11000 feet. That feels totally different that Lima which was 100 feet above sea level at the most. The air is so thin that it is hard to breathe. Walking and talking is pretty difficult(maybe thats a good thing). Our hotel had cocoa tea ready for us when we arrived to help with the altitude adjustment. It was one of the best teas that I've ever had. Unfortunately, due to international drug trafficking laws, I can't bring any back to America so you'll just have to take my word for it. It definitely helped with the altitude adjustment. I had a pretty bad headache when I woke up this morning due to the altitude but the tea cured it almost instantly. Last night I tried grilled alpaca and it was delicious. It resembled beef but was a little tougher but still very good. I'm getting used to being at this altitude so hopefully everything should go well with the remainder of our time in Cusco.
